The 2018 District 16 membership form is now available! Simply visit the membership page. The 2018 pdf is an autofill style, so you can complete it before printing. It is best done in Acrobat. Save it to your system, or just print a duplicate for your records. Keep in mind, motocross riders looking to keep their same numbers need to renew by the early February deadline.
A few class modifications have arrived for 2018. News also came that the 50cc class Dirt Track riders will be racing for free again in 2018. That’s right, no entry fee for those youngest riders, so break out the little bikes and get the kids involved in the greatest sport ever.
Motocross continued with the +40A and +40A/B split that was introduced in 2017. Both will be paying points for the 2018 season championships! New, and exciting is the 125cc class – two strokes only, no minis, but this is a new and fun class for anyone with a 125cc bike. With the growing interest in the return of the 125’s, this will quickly become a very cool class.
A hard decision was made after a couple years of low participation to remove the Supermini class from the official schedule of classes. Tracks can still run it if they desire, but it is no longer an official class in D16 MX.
Rumor has it there may be some new Stadium Style motocross racing coming to Southern Wisconsin… a very cool addition if it works out. This racing wouldn’t count towards D16 MX points, but we expect it won’t slow our riders from taking in these new events. News should start coming in late January.
Special note should be made in MX for the rider ages to ride 250cc and 450cc motorcycles…. see the rules in the rules section, and in the AMA rule book.
Hare Scrambles will continue to mix in the new style GP events for 2018. Gran Prix’s are a cool new format, often running on the same weekend as a Hare Scrambles so riders can double up on the racing at a single facility, and collect points as well. In 2018 the Rapid Angels MC Club will be running one the day before the season opening motocross, so all those riders should plan on making it a fun weekend… mixing in a little trip to a good section of the MX track (if it goes off as we expect).
Following a very cool banquet and what looks to be an excellent ice racing season kicking off January 6th by the Madison Motorcycle club, we are all pumped up and looking forward to a fantastic 2018! Get those memberships renewed, cards will be mailing in late January/ early Feb.
